If you're basing your new construction on a model home you toured, make sure you find out how much all of the upgrades cost.  After all, the model will have all of the bells and whistles -- but that doesn't necessarily mean that they'll all come standard in your home.  So, before you break ground, make sure you can afford the upgrades you want -- and that you're not being nickeled and dimed to death.
